College Audition Preparation

Three 1-on-1 actor coaching sessions

Embodied Text Analysis

Transform Audition Stress into Confidence

Any audition can be stressful, but auditions for colleges and universities might just take the cake.

You’re typically asked to prepare a handful of monologues that demonstrate your range of abilities, often with strict parameters, long waiting times, and the possibility of repeating this intense venture again, and again, and again.

These three coaching sessions are focused on supporting students to cultivate presence, calm, and joy within the audition process.

We will co-create an audition process that centers your needs and fits the circumstances of your upcoming auditions.

This will include physical and mental audition preparations, as well as a ‘closing’ audition practice which addresses the stress naturally accumulated in audition environments.

What You Can Expect:

  • Three sessions, each between 1 and 1.5 hours, according to your preference
  • Option to meet on Zoom or in person at my home in Portland, OR
  • All sessions may be physical; please wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in

Please Prepare:

  • Memorized audition pieces: please be fully memorized before Session 2

College Audition Prep Session Outline*

Session 1:

  • We will create a ‘before’ practice, exploring all aspects of preparation including your warm-up, walking into the room, and the moment before.

Session 2:

  • We will also create a ‘closing’ practice, explore de-roling out of character (and out of audition mode) and co-create a mindful self-talk practice to encourage compassionate resilience.

Session 3:

  • We will integrate the ‘before’ and ‘closing’ practices with performance of the audition piece(s).

*Note that due to the student-centered nature of my work, this outline will shift to support the needs of each particular student.
